Finn Balor could appear at the Royal Rumble 2017 though it may take a miracle for him to do so. With the former WWE Universal Champion still recovering from shoulder surgery, the last thing he may need is to return in an untimely fashion.

Balor Not Due Until WrestleMania 33

Balor did touch on the possibility, claiming that it all boils down to positive thinking, Cageside Seats reported. He admitted that his return is feasible for WrestleMania 33, but a Royal Rumble participation could happen.

“I really believe in the power of positive thinking and the collective power of people’s thoughts spawning something into becoming reality,” he said. “So if everyone does believe I can win the Royal Rumble, then I guess it’s not impossible.”

Seeing the “Demon King” as one of the surprise entrants or returnees would be a treat for the WWE Universe at the Royal Rumble 2017. The problem is that the company is unlikely to take the risk as they treat Balor’s predicament with extreme caution.

How Is Finn Balor Right Now?

At any rate, Balor may still be working on his comeback trail. His appearances show him in high spirits. But realistically, the earliest is WrestleMania 33 and not the Royal Rumble taking place next month, Bleacher Report reported.

While nothing has been made official, it is likely that he will immediately set his sights on the Universal title. Kevin Owens is the current champion, but there are rumblings that Roman Reigns could eventually become Universal champion.

Seeing a Reigns vs Balor title-match could be fitting seeing how these two met before. Recall that it was Balor who cost the “Big Dog” the title opportunity at SummerSlam so there is a bit of beef there.

Against Owens, it remains to be seen how the creative team works this one out. Two former NXT stars going at it could be everything will still boil down to the script.
