The recent Kids’ Choice Awards on Nickelodeon offered a lot of upcoming film footage and trailers, including Wonder Woman and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Another film that caught the eyes of most view is a new clip from Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight which will open on June 23.
Since the teaser played during the Kids’ Choice Awards, it focused on the young new protagonist Izabella, played by Isabela Moner. She appeared to be running away from some sentries who seemingly are hunting for some Transformers. Fortunately, an Autobot helped them to hide.
At first, fans thought that the Autobot might be Bumblebee, disguised as another vehicle. However, other fans on the internet indicated that the one who helped Izabella is a different Autobot called Canopy. The first clip centered around Izabella, who is an orphan.
Izabella is described as a feisty youngster, who tries to escape from the aggressive urban pacification robot. She found a safe harbor in a huge pile of junk, which is not exactly how it appears to be. Izabella allows the younger viewers an entry to the sequel to Transformers: Age of Extinction. Presumably, the production is trying to cover every marketing demographic for the film.
A second clip showcased Izabella’s origin story. She is a survivor of the Battle of Chicago. This ultimately links her to Mark Wahlberg’s character, Cade Yeager. The promo also gave fans a glimpse of new baby Dinobots as well as Izabella’s alliance with Hound. Fans also saw a comical Autobot called Squeeks and a playful scene with Grimlock.
Recent Transformers: The Last Knight marketing antics focused heavily on a younger audience
The last two pieces of marketing clips focused heavily on establishing Moner’s character. The franchise never explored a similar connection on Izabella’s relationship to the Autobots. The Autobots in The Last Knight will serve as protectors for her and fellow children, who are fleeing from the chaos. Izabella’s connection to the bigger picture is yet to be revealed but the clips revealed that she is special.
Transformers: The Last Knight also brings back Cade Yeager. Cade will have a new line-up of allies. His allies will include an Oxford professor (Laura Haddock) and a regal English Lord (Anthony Hopkins). There is no detail as to how the characters’ paths will meet. Colonel Lennox (Josh Duhamel) will be back with additional new characters in the military.
The plot for The Last Knight explained how the upcoming installment will be unique from its predecessors. The film will debunk some myths about the Transformers franchise and will redefine the meaning of a hero. The humans and transformers are at war, with Optimus Prime gone. The key to saving humanity’s future lies in the hidden past of the transformers on Earth. The plot for the film also left a mysterious note how the hunted will become the heroes while the heroes become the villains.
