The Transformers film franchise is back but with a spin off film featuring the iconic yellow Bumblebee. The previous films in the Transformer franchise focused on a lot of the other characters in the franchise with Bumblebee as a supporting character. However, the latest news is that Paramount will be making a film just for him.
Some characters are so endearing that it is hard forget them when a film is over. This is what happened with Bumblebee in the Transformers franchise. He was undoubtedly one of the more popular Autobots that needed to get more screen time.
Transformers’ Spinoff ‘Bumblebee’ Release Date
The good news is, according to Hollywood Reporter, a spin-off film titled Bumblebee is pushing through. The film is already slated for a June 8, 2018 release and will be the first of Paramount’s expanding Transformers universe. In fact, there were already people working on the expanded universe since 2015. Akiva Goldsman had a group of writers come together and write prequels and sequels. This was in an effort to expand the franchise’s universe.
The director helming the project will be Travis Knight and the writer is Christina Hudson. Knight was the animator behind the Oscar nominated animated film Kubo and the Two Strings. For a directorial film debut, he already has a promising career ahead of him. The producers backing the spin-off are Stephen Davis and Brian Goldner from Hasbro, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Steven Spielberg, and Michael Bay.
There are not any leaked plot details on the upcoming spin-off as it was recently given the go signal for production. However, the 1975 Camaro Bumblebee will definitely be given the spotlight he deserves. Speculations have noted that the spin-off could follow the original animated series or be new material entirely.
