Thor: Ragnarok May Be a Comedy

Scifi Movies

Three Marvel films will debut this year, namely Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Spiderman-Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok. Out of the three films, Thor is behind the social media buzz. However, the latest information coming from Thor: Ragnarok’s Loki, Tom Hiddleston might turn the tide.

Hiddleston will return to the Marvel Universe and reprise his role as Loki. He spoke to Fandango about the experience he had while filming the movie. The actor was gracious enough to compliment director Taika Waititi. He also praised co-actor Chris Hemsworth for his performance as the son of Odin.

“Taika Waititi is such a spirited, hilarious individual, and he and Chris became very fast friends. What was great for me to see was to see their friendship kind of blossom, and they brought out the best in each other, and started making stuff up, and I can confidently say right now that this will be the funniest depiction of the character of Thor that you’ve ever seen. I personally have known for almost ten years that Chris Hemsworth is hilarious.”

Fans warmly received the first two Thor films which returned with some solid box-office sales. However, when the conversation talked about the best MCU movies, Thor films seem to be an afterthought.

On the other hand, Hiddleston’s comment about the hilarity within the film stirred the fans’ anticipation about the film. After the release of the interview and additional information, the film gained interest from fans. Avid movie goers would also love to see the return of Hemsworth and Hiddleston as sibling rivals. Additionally, Ragnarok will also feature Mark Ruffalo as Bruce, a.k.a. Hulk, Cate Blanchett as Hela as well as Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. Other cast member include Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, Karl Urban, Anthony Hopkins and Idris Alba.

Is Thor: Ragnarok a comedy film?

One of the main reasons for the fans’ excitement about the film is the addition of the Taika Waititi as the film’s director. Waititi is known for directing comedies like the critically-acclaimed Hunt For The Wilderpeople. Waititi is also responsible on some comedy sketches for Thor: Ragnarok. With Hiddleston’s comments and Waititi’s background, there is an anticipation that the film will have a certain level of humor in the film.

In an interview with IGN, Hiddleston also gave some tidbits of information about the events that will unfold in the upcoming film. He said that at the beginning of the film, Thor had a lot of questions. Blanchett’s character will bring destruction in her wake. The destruction that she cause is more than what Thor and Loki had ever seen. The destruction was so massive that Thor and Loki will fall back on their fractured brotherhood to see what they can do to stop Hela from unleashing hell on their home.
