A fresh batch of concept art from director Taika Waititi’s upcoming Thor: Ragnarok gave fans a glimpse at Thor’s universe. The cast includes Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Karl Urban, Anthony Hopkins, Tessa Thompson and Sam Neill. However, the most interesting cast member is Cate Blanchett, with her character expected to wreak havoc in Asgard.
There are six upcoming superhero films this year, but Ragnarok is the only one that has not released a trailer or footage of any kind. Nevertheless, the Digital HD release of Doctor Strange gave a sneak peek at Ragnarok’s concept art. It shows illustrations of Hulk vs Thor in battle and Cate Blanchett’s wicked Hela. Doctor Strange‘s Digital HD release will be available worldwide on Blu-ray and DVD on February 28.
Who is Hela?
Hela is the Asgardian goddess of death and ruler of Hel and Niffleheim. The artwork shows Hela’s transcendent magnificence with a spectacular costume style that sticks closely to the character’s iconic comic book outfit. The concept art also shows a fight between Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. The circumstances will force the two Avengers to battle each other, with the match taking place at the Grandmaster’s (Jeff Goldblum) gladiator arena. Although the film is about Thor and Hulk’s teamup to beat Hela, the most hyped part of the movie will likely be the showdown between the two.
The plot of the film states that Thor is sent to prison on the other side of deep space without his magnificent hammer. He discovers himself in a race against time to return to Asgard to stop Ragnarok, which would bring forth the extinction of Asgardian civilization. He is off to save the world from the hands of the powerful and callous Hela.
Thor Ragnarok Cast: Hela threatens Loki
The artwork also shows Thor wearing a different helmet this time around. On the other hand, Hulk has a new weapon that can cut through Thor’s armor. Despite the twists and turns, Hela is ultimately the main threat of the story. Oddly enough, she appears to be threatening Loki in the artwork, too, regardless of which side he is on.
When Marvel formally revealed the Thor: Ragnarok cast members, the studio launched a concept art showing a rear view of Hela. In the first artwork, she is seen receiving an undesirable greeting in Asgard. The studio then launched a set video providing fans a first look at Blanchett on set, but she is far away and is not wearing her complete costume.
