Suicide Squad fans were left disappointed as the title was branded as the worst superhero movie in 2016. The report was filed by Rolling Stones in their recent countdown as the DC movie topped the list grabbing first spot.
While the DC film appealed to the audience, it was concluded as an overall failure in Hollywood. However, a recent list on IMDb has shocked the Comic Book audience. It included Suicide Squad in the “Top 10 Movies of 2016” list.
Suicide Squad Dominates ‘Captain America: Civil War’
Similar to Rolling Stones, IMDb gathered Hollywood titles released in 2016. However, the list contained the best movies rather than the worst. Moreover, surprisingly Suicide Squad has managed to steal the first spot as well.
IMDb wrote that “All the signs were good” for Suicide Squad. It was added that “Robbie stole the show” with her appearance as Harley Quinn. Furthermore, it was the first attempt at releasing a Hollywood movie lead by supervillains. Fortunately, it was a success.
As pointed out by IMDb, “While there were naysayers for the film”, it still managed rack “more than $745 million at the worldwide box office and made it the most popular movie on IMDb in 2016”. Fans can check it out here.
David Ayer’s DC Film Is Best Of 2016
This isn’t the first time IMDb has awarded Suicide Squad. Earlier, the website also granted the movie’s cast member Margot Robbie the first spot in the “Top 10 Stars of 2016” list.
David Ayer’s movie has been repeatedly jabbed by critics since its release. However, there have also been reports such as this suggesting the DC film to be a successful endeavor by Warner Bros.
Recently, the studio also released Suicide Squad: Extended Cut. Unlike “Batman v Superman”, the new edition received acclaimed reports and appealed to the audience.
The success of Suicide Squad is evident as the studio has also decided to green light follow-up DC films. It was recently confirmed that Robbie will be working with Ayer again for “Gotham City Sirens.” It is another movie will be led by supervillains.
