For years, scientists have tried and failed to find aliens while scanning the skies. However, they now think they may now achieve such while following a basic rule of etiquette.

Aliens: Contacting Extraterrestrials

Recently, scientists formulated that humans must try out a simple rule of etiquette. In fact, it should start with a simple “hello.” They said we must broadcast our own signals to extraterrestrials. This is better than merely waiting for alien life to call us, according to new San Francisco-based organization Messaging Extra Terrestrial Intelligence (METI), as reported by Mercury News.

The goal of the group’s project is to send conversation-starters via radio or laser signals.

The message to be sent will be the mathematical equivalent of inviting someone to chat. The group would first send it to a rocky planet circling our nearest star Proxima Centauri. The messages would then be given out to more distant neighborhoods. These places could be several light years away.

Douglas Vakoch, president of METI, is also former director of the Interstellar Message Composition at the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute in Mountain View.

The project could actually start a beautiful friendship, Vakoch said. “If we want to start an exchange over the course of many generations, we want to learn and share information.”

METI’s main purpose is to look for life beyond Earth and communicate with such.

Aliens: Earlier Versions

Several probes have been sent to different planets. A rover, for example, was released on Mars. Due to the developments, experts believe that in 2017, humans could actually discover life on other planets.

Previously, scientists received strange signals from deep space. In fact, the issue has made them excited.

There are several experts, though, claiming such occurrences to be false alarm. However, others are hoping that significant news will arrive soon.

Doctor Simon Foster, physicist from the Imperial College London, said that there was a time we thought we had discovered aliens. It turned out it was a new form of star called the pulsar, as per Express UK.

“We don’t know hardly anything and when we come up against something we don’t know or doesn’t fit into out current understanding, it is quite nice to say that it could be aliens, whereas a lot of it is just a phenomena that we haven’t discovered,” Foster said.

“Either way there is a breakthrough just around the corner.”
