There are a lot of expectations on the shoulders of the Red Dead Redemption 2 developers. Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games admitted that the success of GTA Online is inspiring them to make the RDR2 live up to expectations. Fans are already expressing high expectations for the upcoming video game.

The original Red Dead Redemption enjoyed huge success, with 8.5 million copies sold in the first year and a total of 15 million copies shipped. This alone puts an incredible amount of pressure for Red Dead Redemption 2 developers.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick declined to give a number prediction for RDR2, GameSpot reported. The potential for the game to sell well is high. Zelnick is excited about how the players will enjoy it and is hoping that Red Dead Redemption 2 online can compete with GTA Online.

A Second Success Story

It is no secret that he hopes the game will have the same success as Grand Theft Auto Online. The team behind Red Dead Redemption 2 focused on quality, much like GTA, hoping that it will be a big part of its success. So far things look good, and there is a projection the game will sell at least 15 million copies, GameRant reported.

The marketing team is also promoting the game very well, which could be the reason why analysts predicted that sales will hit the 15-million mark. Fans of its predecessor will also naturally give the sequel a try. Its marketing support and a new wave of young games will be factors in the game’s success too.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available on Playstation 4 and Xbox One in Fall 2017. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not announced a projected release date. Eager fans may have to wait for further announcements in the coming months.

The Red Dead Franchise

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open-world action adventure game played in the third person perspective. There are single player and online multiplayer modes available. Like its predecessor, it is set during the Old West and the decline of the American Frontier.

The first game followed former outlaw John Marston and his story as a hired gunner by the government. With his son and wife in ransom for his services, he must bring three members of his former gang to justice to get his family back. Its story and gameplay got a lot of praise, receiving numerous positive reviews.
