Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales may not be the last for the long-running franchise.  If the recent interview with co-director Joachim Ronning is anything to draw conclusion from, fans can still anticipate a Pirates of the Caribbean 6. Read on to know more about this information.

The stories of pirates taking over the seas was a concept that has been done many times. But it was not until Johnny Depp stepped into the shoes of Captain Jack Sparrow that there was a franchise as big as the Pirates of the Caribbean. Years later and the films have developed the storyline to make way for more characters and more pirate adventures.

The newest film installment just launched a new trailer and had a lot of surprises in it. However, what fans noticed was the spot announcing the “Final Adventure.” This could mean that this is the last adventure for Depp as Jack Sparrow, or this could be the end of the franchise as a whole. In fact, co-directors Ronning and Espen Sandberg were said to have made the film as a conclusion to the Pirates franchise. However, during an interview with Cinema Blend, Ronning stirred speculation that this may not just be the last installment of the franchise. In fact, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales could be part 1 of a two-part ending, judging with what Ronning told Cinema Blend.

“It’s difficult to ever know. I think that there’s always… this is the beginning of the finale. [laughs] It depends on how you look at it. But I never take anything for granted, and I love the franchise. These kinds of movies, they remind me of the kind of movies I grew up with, those kind of adventure movies that made me want to become a filmmaker. So for me to be able to be a part of this and direct a Pirates of the Caribbean is a dream come true. But I don’t know if it’s the last one, or if they’ll make another ten of them — I don’t know! But I hope so!,” he said.

This does not seem like something new from Walt Disney Pictures, as many expected Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides to be the last film and yet here comes Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The said installment did not do as well as the previous films did. Considering it was a flop in the box office, no one expected that another film would be made.

New Faces on The Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tale trailer

The Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be about a new pirate villain who is not just after Sparrow. In fact, he is after destroying all the pirates thanks to the Trident of Poseidon. The new villain leading a deadly crew of ghost pirates is Javier Bardem, who plays Captain Salazar.

Some familiar faces gracing the film such as Orlando Bloom as Will Turner and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbosa are back in the upcoming installment. There will also be new faces as well. Brenton Thwites, who starred in The Giver, will be playing Henry Turner. Henry is the son of Elizabeth Swann, played by Kiera Knightley, and Will Turner.

The other is Kaya Scodelario, who starred in Skins and The Maze Runner. She will be playing a young astronomer Carina Smyth and there are some theories on her role in the film. While she is determined to prove her intelligence, is also rumored to be Captain Barbossa’s daughter. When it comes to a love interest, although some say its Jack Sparrow, many are concluding that it is Henry Turner.
