Indiana Pacers superstar Paul George is set make headlines later in the week. It will not be because of his performance on the hardcourt for the Pacers. It will be because of his first signature shoe, the PG 1, that will be released on the market this week.
The PG 1 surfaced on different websites earlier this year but no release date was announced. But according to Nike, this signature shoe will be released in “Pre-Heat” edition on Saturday. The PG 1 “Pre-Heat” edition will be made available for $110 per pair on Nike.com and selected retailers worldwide.
This edition features a black-based upper part with bolstered mesh on the toecap. It also features an iridescent Nike Swoosh and black speckled midsole. It also has translucent outsole combined with a Zoom Air unit for added explosiveness. This shoe also has the “PG” logo on the tongue and George’s signature on the neon green insole.
Aside from its simple yet stunning look, the PG 1 was also made to meet expectations on the hardcourt. Nike used mesh material in the forefoot for breathability. The forefoot Zoom Air unit also provides responsive cushioning, while the rubber outsole gives durable traction.
“To play the game like Paul George is to be equally at home on both sides of the ball, comfortable in any position or situation. The Nike PG 1 is designed to let the most versatile players move seamlessly from offense to defense, from tip-off to final buzzer, in complete comfort,” Nike said in an official statement.
According to Sneaker News, lead designed Tony Hardman hinted that fans will appreciate the shoe more once they get their hands on it. Hardman could be talking about how lightweight the PG 1 is. There is also a chance that he is talking about the overall features of the sleek signature shoe.
PG 1 ‘The Bait’ Coming Out in March
Meanwhile, another edition is also set to hit shelves a week after the “Pre-Heat” edition is released. The PG 1 “The Bait” will come out on March 4, Sneaker News revealed in a separate report. Like the first edition, this colorway will be available for $110 per pair as well.
The PG 1 “The Bait” sports dark obsidian upper part with university gold accents, matching the team colors of the Pacers. It has a gold PG logo on the tongue and purple heel tab along with a white Nike Swoosh logo. It was finished off with a speckled white midsole and white outsole.
