MasterChef is back for its fifth run on Fox. The cooking competition will come back with a new set of MasterChef Junior season 5 contestants. The premiere will air on Thursday, February 9 at 8 p.m. Judges Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi will host the show. They will be accompanied by a series of visitor judges.
The Quest For An Apron will take over the cooking area as 40 junior chefs will take on the task. The contestants are ages eight through 13 years-old. The junior chefs will compete to get the Master Chef Junior trophy and a prize money worth $100,000.
The judges will cut the numbers of the 40 contestants in half. Only 20 junior cooks will get the opportunity to stay for the remainder of the season. The test will begin right away in the episode Quest For An Apron Part 1. There will be groups consisting of four members. The chefs will get unique challenges like cooking steak, scallops and baking cupcakes. Out of the four, only two will proceed to the next round. The full group of 20 finalists will be revealed in Part 2, which will air on Thursday, February 16.
In the preview of the MasterChef Junior season 5, Ramsay and Tosi welcome the junior chefs. The drama builds up as the kids are getting nervous due to the time constraint. Despite being adorable, the kids are in it to win the competition.
The culinary contest will feature a series of scrumptious challenges. They will also prepare a meal for more than 40 people. In addition, the kids will get a culinary challenge from former first lady, Michelle Obama.
Guest judge Mayim Bialik from The Big Bang Theory will join the first episode. Bialik will provide the junior chefs with a vegan challenge. Julie Bowen from Modern Family will get the VIP customer treatment. It is notable to say that Gordon Ramsay will not be cursing at the young chefs which he normally does with the adult ones.
