The 2017 Detroit Auto Show showcased new and upcoming innovative cars, which included the Lexus LS 2018. The new Lexus model is now on its fifth generation. The company’s flagship sedan looks stylish and packs a punch with its specifications.
Lexus LS 2018 specifications and features
The LS 500 was built with a rear-wheel extended version. The car’s upgrade gave it a longer and wider facade than its predecessors, its front look adapting Lexus’ current design language. It has a swept-back headlights finish, while the front end has a V-shaped LED daytime light with a spindle grille. CNET reported that the new model was derived from the LC 500 sports coupe-style.
The new Lexus LS 500 is also powered with a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a pair of turbochargers. It has 415hp with a 442 pound-feet of torque. These specifications show the LS’ current V8 engine, bolted to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The new Lexus sedan’s six-cylinder spin can hit up to 60 mph within 4.5 seconds because of its high-end engine. For the LS, the company used lightweight materials, making the car 200 pounds lighter than Lexus’ former flagships.
The Lexus LS 2018 integrated a system called Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management, so the driver can virtually control every movement the vehicle makes. This will enhance performance quality independent from the front and rear steering systems.
The Lexus LS’ design was inspired by the Japanese culture
The designers used Japanese culture as inspiration for the car’s interior design. The lighting, for example, mimics Japanese lanterns. In addition, the wood trim on the dashboard draws inspiration from the Shimamoku wood patterns.
Furthermore, the car designers made sure the cabin design will complement the advanced tech features of the car. The LS has an infotainment system with an optional 24-inch color display.
Consumers who want to get a hold of the LS will be greeted with integrated comfort features in the cabin. The rear seats were programmed to give the passengers a Japanese-type of massage called the “Shiatsu.”
Express UK also reported that the company included an Active Noise Control to suppress certain sound frequencies inside the vehicle. Most noteworthy, the LS offers a wide rear legroom, a first for the LS brand. The company hasn’t announce the price for the sedan yet, but it is projected to be released at the fourth quarter of 2017.
