The Canadian prime minister invited Ivanka Trump out to show her some Canadian hospitality. However, the duo went to watch a Broad Show which story discussed the kindness towards foreigners. Had she not be President Donald Trump’s daughter, it would not be of a biggie. However, she was the daughter of the president of America whose immigration policy had been controversial.
After President Trump was elected, there was a lot of clashes and tension among the Americans. While some were open to the change, others were not as welcoming. Trump’s administration just started and there is still a lot of time to see the progress his administration brings. However, there are still many who are unwavering with their dislike for the way he is running things. Even Canadian prime minister Trudeau took it into his own hands to show the Americans how being welcoming should be done.
A Musical Of The Present Times
On Wednesday,Trudeau brought Ivanka to a Broadway Show that celebrates generosity towards foreigners in need. The new musical titled Come From Away was full of symbolism in its script. Ivanka was not alone that time and was seated beside a close adviser. However, she did sit in Row F and was sandwiched between the Canadian prime minister and Nikki R. Haley, the American ambassador to the United Nations. Even the former Canadian Prime Minister, Jean Chretien, was present in the row before them.
The show Come From Away is a musical about the generosity of a remote Canadian town. They welcomed 6,579 airline passengers who got stranded in Newfoundland after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. This is similar whit what is taking place in the real world.
Why People Are Leaving
After the Trump administration officially started office, many have reportedly fled to Canada from the United States. This is following Trump’s executive orders banning refugees and travelers of certain nationalities. There are some changes made to the order. But,there are many who still do not feel safe within the borders of the United States.
This was Trudeau’s first time to see the musical. He noted how great the support is like even at the darkest of times. He shared how there is not relationship that is quite like the friendship between the US and Canada. The play Come From Away was similar as it is a story about friendship as well.
