The Washington Wizards are in a quandary and recent rumors have suggested a John Wall trade before the deadline. Considering his caliber, this comes as a surprise to most.
Right now, the Wizards are in 11th place of the NBA Eastern Conference Standings. If the NBA playoffs were to be held soon, all Washington had to do is to string up consecutive wins to get over the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bulls.
John Wall Trade Could Be Costly
A change in manpower could help. However, trading John Wall may not be the answer. A certified all-star, Wall is 18th in box plus/minus according to Basketball Reference.
Though he has been hampered by injuries, he is still young at 26 that can blossom into a franchise player. That said, the Wizards may want to forego any trade plans and focus attention on other players in the mix.
Markieff Morris, Bradley Beal Instead?
Among the players they could consider for trade include Markieff Morris and Bradley Beal. Both are talented and crucial pieces. Testing the market on what the Wizards could get in return will be a logical approach to improve team personnel, Bleacher Report reported.
The word around is that the Wizards are exploring a possible trade with the Detroit Pistons. Reggie Jackson and Stanley Johnson are allegedly the target. The two could be better options. However, one has to wonder if their addition would crowd the rotation or blend in well with the boys of head coach Scott Brooks.
Jackson seems to have garnered the ire of Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy, a reason why he has suddenly been involved in NBA trade rumors. Van Gundy singles out how the guard has been making poor decisions as of late, a warning sign he could be dealt soon, Yahoo reported.
