Dona Nely, a Brazilian grandmother, received a Lord of the Rings figurine from her boyfriend as a gift. It was an Elrond figurine. Surprisingly, the grandmother started praying to it every night.

Lord of the Rings: Dona Nely Prays To Elrond

It was reported that Nely normally assumed that the figurine was that of a saint. She believed that figurine was of Saint Anthony. Her granddaughter stated that she had the figurine for years.

“She had it for years, and prayed to it as Saint Anthony almost every night by her bed,” said Gabriela Brandão, the granddaughter. “But nobody noticed all these years.” One day she noticed and asked whether Saint Anthony have long hair.

Brandão noticed it the day, when her daughter started playing with the figurine. The child brought the Elrond doll into the kitchen, where the family was sitting. Saint Anthony of Padua actually did not have long hair. The patron saint has very short hair. There are depictions of him, where he is bald with a ring of hair around his head, said CBS News.

Brandão stated that she made a Google search about the logo at the bottom of the figurine. It was then she came across the truth. Furthermore, she stated that when she discovered the truth, it was the funniest moments of her life, and she and the family laughed about it for days.

Ultimately, even Nely realized the mistaken identity issue was quite funny. She was told about the issue and Nely laughed about it. The family got her an actual figurine of Saint Anthony.

Lord of the Rings: Elrond

Elrond is a half-elven character from the J. R. R. Tolkien’s masterpiece. He was the Lord of Rivendell and was one of the terrific Elf rulers.  He is the son of Eärendil and Elwing. He was born in Beleriand in the first age, which means he is 6,000 years old by the time the events in The Lord of the Rings happened.
