Avengers: Infinity War will be Marvel’s biggest superhero team-up in comic book movie history. Furthermore, the movie will feature one of the scariest Marvel villains known as Thanos. Fortunately, it looks like he will take the limelight in the movie unlike other villains such as Ultron and Loki in previous installments.

Marvel Studios president and film producer Kevin Feige spoke to Screen Rant about Avengers: Infinity War. He revealed that Marvel decided to go into a different direction as the supervillian Thanos will be interpreted as the “main character.” It looks like he will leave an everlasting impression to the audience as well.

Kevin Feige Says Thanos Is Main Character In Avengers: Infinity War

“We’ve been criticized, if a big criticism of ours is that we focus on the heroes more than the villains, I think that’s probably true,” Feige said. “I don’t think it will always be true and I think some of you spoke to Chris and Steve at the Civil War junket. When the heck was that, yesterday? Last week? And they talked about, in appropriately oblique terms, Thanos. Thanos in Infinity War is, you know, in a movie that has a lot of characters, you could almost go so far as to say he is the main character.”

Thanos Made A Cameo In Guardians Of The Galaxy

Going by Feige’s statement, it looks like the sheer amount of superheroes in Infinity War will not undermine Thanos’s capabilities. Marvel may have decided to interpret Thanos as a trump card villain. Thanos might instill fear even among the best superheroes.

It is also possible that Thanos’ screen time in Avengers: Infinity War will show his importance in the universe. Furthermore, his origin story could be one of the top priorities as well. The supervillain has only made a cameo appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy. Although it revealed him as a force to be reckoned with, his abilities are still unknown.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently in production. Marvel cast members from Guardians of the Galaxy will soon begin filming their roles. Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda Maximoff, also talked about her production schedule in a recent interview. The movie is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2018.
