Jason Momoa as Aquaman continues to steal the limelight in Justice League due to the absence of Superman. Warner Bros. has already greenlit production for Aquaman. Moreover, it’s likely that the crew is already filming in Gold Coast, Australia, according to previous reports.

James Wan has confirmed that Aquaman’s half-brother, known as King Orm a.k.a Ocean Master, will play a role in the film. Moreover, the character will be played by Patrick Wilson (known for “The Conjuring,” “Insidious,” etc). We have been anticipating a bigger casting announcement from Warner Bros., though.

It was revealed in early reports that the Black Manta will be the main villain in “Aquaman.” Although many actors like Michael Jai White were hinted for the role, none of them have been confirmed by WB yet.

Aquaman Main Villain Could Be Revealed Soon

Recently, a DCEU insider teased another American actor for the role of Black Manta. Moreover, judging by the tweet, it is possible that he is considered for the role.

Umberto Gonzalez posted a casting info on a tweet: “Mahershala Ali… Black Manta?” Fans can check it out below.

Unlike Patrick Wilson’s casting, fans have been sharing mixed opinions on Mahershala Ali as the Black Manta. Ali, after all, played a Marvel character in 2016. The actor appeared as Cottonmouth in “Marvel’s Luke Cage”; however, (SPOILER!) Mahershala’s character was killed off from the show.

Mahershala Ali Also Played A Marvel Role

Mahershala Ali is known for his roles in soap operas. The actor received several nominations including a Primetime Emmy nomination for playing Remy in “House of Cards.”

It’s possible that the actor could be in talks for the DCEU role. However, there has been no confirmation yet. So far, King Orm is the only confirmed supervillain in “Aquaman,” slated to release on October 5, 2018. Other titles such as “The Batman” and “The Flash” will also be releasing the same year.

Aquaman will also be appearing in Zack Snyder’s “Justice League.’ Another character played by Amber Heard will also appear in the film. The actress plays Mera from the world of Atlantis.
