Aquaman cast will soon be completed. Reports indicated that Warner Bros. studio has been approaching several actors to play the Black Manta role. Fortunately, it looks like they have finally found the right actor for the role.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is in early talks with Warner Bros. to play Black Manta for the DC Extended Universe movie Aquaman. The studio and Director James Wan decided to go with Abdul-Mateen during the weekend. With no delay, an official offer was sent to the actor on Monday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed.
Currently, Abdul-Mateen is still in early discussion with Warner Bros. and Wan for the part. However, if the actor takes up the role, he will play as the main villain in Aquaman. The character will be shown wearing an underwater battle suit along with a trident.
Black Manta Is an Archenemy to Aquaman
Black Manta is known to be one of the deadliest rivals in DC Universe. The character has attempted to kill Aquaman and raid Atlantis (an underwater world) many times in the comics. The character also played a prominent role in DC animated series Young Justice.
Abdul-Mateen is not the only celebrity in talks with Warner Bros. for DCEU. An exclusive report by THR has confirmed that Nicole Kidman could also play a role in Aquaman. Fortunately, her role is also royal like Jason Momoa’s part. Warner Bros. has approached Kidman to play as Aquaman’s mother. The character is known as Atlanna, an Atlantian belonging to royalty in the underwater kingdom.
Atlanna Gives Birth to Arthur Curry on the Surface World
In the comics, Atlanna escapes her kingdom and reaches the surface world. On the land, she falls in love for a lighthouse keeper and gives birth to Arthur Curry a.k.a Aquaman. Curry is half-human and half-Atlantian.
Moreover, he is also considered as royal similar to his biological mother. In the comics, Curry becomes the King of Atlantis. He brought an understanding between the underwater being and surface dwellers.
Aquaman is scheduled to be released on October 5, 2018. The movie features Jason Momoa as Aquaman. The character made a cameo appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Fans will also get to see his character in action in Justice League.
Amber Heard plays as Mera, the future queen of Atlantis and Curry’s love interest. Williem Dafoe will be Nudis Vulko, a scientist from the world of Atlantis. Patrick Wilson will play the role of Orm, half-brother to Arthur Curry.
