Sony will be releasing the Android 7.0 Nougat update to some of its popular models. The company will roll out the update within the first quarter of 2017. The latest handsets that will receive the update are the Sony Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z3+ Dual phones.
Sony launches the Android 7.0 Nougat update on its popular models
The tech giant is aggressive with its roll out of the new update. Several of its best selling units received the update. Android N is now available for Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z3+ Dual models. Phone Arena reported that the OS update will have the build number 32.3.A.0.372. The update will come with a security patch for the Z3+ units.
The Nougat update will be a fairly sizable download. Users who are planning to download Nougat must have enough storage on their phones. According to Xperia Blog, users must have more than 1.35GB storage, prior to updating the system.
The changes that come from the update will include a multi-window support. This feature will allow users to run two app at the same time and switch between apps by double tapping. In addition, Sony stated that the units will have longer battery life. Google and Xperia’s optimization allowed the units to save battery which will improve its efficiency.
Other changes included some improvements on the messaging system. Users will likely be able to share video and audio messages in just a few taps. Sony’s update also improved its selfie interface. There will be a new selfie-timer button in the interface of the front camera. This feature will make taking selfies way easier than before. The update will bring a smarter and personalized Xperia home screen, complete with the new Google Now integration.
Several Sony units already received the Android N
The company finished updating the entire Xperia Z5 series within the third week of January. Sony aimed to deliver the new Google operating system to its devices ahead of its competitors. The Japanese technology company was one of the first manufacturers to bring the Nougat update to its models. Before 2016 ended, Sony successfully rolled out the Android Nougat to several units. Some of the units included the Xperia XZ, Xperia X Performance, and Xperia X. Sony also updated the Xperia X Compact and Xperia X Compact.
Users who want the Android 7.0 Nougat update must set their sights on the new OS system. It must be noted that after updating to Nougat, users can no longer revert to a previous software version. Smartphone owners must make sure to have a back up for their personal upgrade before updating the system.
