Google announced an update for Android 7.1.2 Nougat. However, it will not be available for all Nexus handsets. Google has released the list of device that will get the upcoming update. Read on to know if your device is eligible.

The smartphone market is vast and competitive as more and more brands come up with more products. At the same time, the features and updates are something the latest phones need to have to function with newly released apps. While there are many phones that are set to get the Android 7.1.2 Nougat, some models will not be getting it at all.

Compatible Phone Models

According to Phone Arena, Google already announced that the final version of the Android Nougat will be released in a couple of months. However, the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 are two models that are not eligible for the update. Google reportedly stated that the two years of OS updates for the models are over, but they will still receive security updates.

The update will be available for the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5x, Nexus Player, Pixel C devices, and the Nexus 6P later on. Those that already have the Android Beta Program can get the available Nougat update and test the maintenance release. Those who are enrolled in the beta program can get a glimpse at the latest update.

There will be an incremental maintenance update that will focus on minute details. Polishing and refinements will be made during these updates and it will mainly focus on bug fixes and optimizations. There are also some enhancements that will benefit how the system will run as well.

System Features

According to Ars Technica, Android 7.1.2 does not seem to have a lot of changes from the get go. However, there are a lot of tiny features that were added. These are dialer references to a multimedia call, improved bluetooth connection, demo mode and even a “high temperature” warning when the phone over heats. Apart from these, there will also be some security updates as well. Unfortunately, this is not the complete list of updated features.

In other news, there are already some issues some phones are getting from the update. Pixel C devices have non-visible Quick Settings at times, the UI hands, and there are even some Wi-Fi stability issues. The Set Up wizard also has some issues where SMS messages won’t be restored during device to device transfer. Hopefully, the next update will get this fixed.
